Who we are
The Baking Sanctuary proudly supports veterans and their families by offering a compassionate, trauma-aware space to decompress, rebuild and reconnect.
Through therapeutic baking, mindfulness and community-led support, we help veterans process stress, regulate emotions and rediscover a sense of purpose and belonging.
Our programmes are designed with care, structure and dignity for those navigating PTSD, burnout, transition to civilian life, or the layered impact of service.
Here, veterans are welcomed with warmth, respect and humanity — and given a place to breathe again.
About the facilitator
Shani is a qualified SEN teacher, creative baking practitioner, and the founder of The Baking Sanctuary a nurturing space where veterans, survivors and ND women reconnect with joy, presence, and healing through the therapeutic art of baking.
Currently studying a Level 2 counselling course, and Mindfulness, Shani is committed to offering a supportive, trauma-aware space deeply rooted in empathy, patience, and practical tools for well-being. Her approach weaves together the mindfulness of baking, the power of creative expression, and the safety of slow, sensory connection.
With a background in Sociology, Drama, autism education, and lived experience as a neurodivergent mother navigating complex PTSD and grief, she brings deep compassion to her work. Through inclusive, sensory-friendly courses and community spaces, Shani helps support those who may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unseen find comfort and connection, one whisk at a time.
